How It Got Started
The Revolutionary War got started when the colonists got tired of a king's tight ruling and wrote the Declaration of Independence declaring that they were free from England. King George III wasn't very happy and declared war.
The Surprise Attack
On Christmas day, the colonists dressed warmly and launched a surprise the British in their fort. General Washington's famous journey across the Delaware River from New Jersey surprised the British in their tracks and forced them to surrender to Washington.
