Colonial life wasn't perfect. There were conflicts also. There was the French and Indian War. That was from 1756 to 1764. There was taxation without representation. That is when the king taxed the colonists for everything they liked. They were so angry they poured truckloads of tea into the Boston Harbor. This act was called the Boston Tea Party.
Areas of Cooperation
They weren't fighting all the time. They did help each other too. When they first came, they weren't sure how they would survive. When the Native Americans first met the colonists, they were nice to them. They showed them how to grow crops such as corn, beans and squash. The colonists were so grateful to the Native Americans for helping them survive through their first winter, so they decided to have a feast to celebrate. This was known as the first Thanksgiving.
Our Personal Reflection
We think colonial life is so fascinating! Even though there were lots of conflicts, we still think the way they got along, even though they were from many different countries, and the way they acted, is so amazing!
